How working with an AI coach before a session transforms creative coaching

Frida Spikdotter · April 22, 2026

A few weeks ago, I received what I thought would be a routine call from one of my most loyal coaching clients. He’s usually upbeat, but this time there was something more to it — I could tell straight away.

People who have just cracked something big have a certain pitch. They radiate in a particular way.

When we hung up half an hour later, I understood why. And I realised that from now on, I’ll need to think differently about my coaching sessions.

All thanks to Friday the Fox

Since we launched Revontale and Friday, I’ve noticed coaches in my network shifting uncomfortably when I bring it up. “AI can’t replace a coach” — there’s an anxiety, a healthy scepticism, perhaps a fear, sometimes even hostility. I’m both nervous and sceptical about ordinary “traditional” AI myself. So I get it. Totally.

But Friday plays in a different league. If you’ve tried the AI tools out there — the ones that think for you, write for you, answer your factual questions (incorrectly) — and you assume Friday is just another one of those, then you’re simply mistaken.

It’s hard to explain, but important to understand: this is something else entirely.

I agree 400% (maybe more!) — an AI can never replace the human connection, never replace the coach — but it can do one thing: it can make a session so much more focused. It can make the in-person meeting richer in substance — and therefore deliver far greater value for the client.

This doesn’t just apply to me as a coach — it applies to anyone working in any form of coaching where the client prepares through reflection between sessions.

But back to that ordinary phone call…

My client was sitting in traffic with plenty of time to spare. “Okay Frida! I’ve been working things through with Friday and I know what I want to write about. I need to meet with you.

This is a dimension and an effect of Friday that I hadn’t anticipated at all. That people can work quietly at home on the sofa, on their own terms. Get the right questions, gain insights, follow threads of thought, reach a deeper understanding — “ Aha! That’s what I want!”. And then bring that newfound clarity into the coaching conversation.

So — not a replacement at all. Quite the opposite! A way for the client to _see their own need_s more clearly, and in doing so, create a completely different foundation for their relationship with me as their coach.

It’s like the difference between going to the doctor with a vague sense that something is wrong, versus knowing exactly what help you need. The doctor is still essential. But the conversation becomes a different one entirely.

This is self-determination and ownership over your own situation. It’s dynamite!

When we met two weeks later, the conversation was crystal clear and we were able to work at a deeper level straight away. What usually takes three (expensive!) sessions to get to was already done.

Eureka, I wanted to shout. But I didn’t. And there was no need. Both of us felt that we had stepped into an entirely new shared space.

I built Friday for my clients’ sake. That it would also change my own work… that came as a wonderful surprise.
